The History of Mooresville
Mooresville was named for John Franklin Moore‚ who arrived on the scene in 1855 and convinced the Atlantic, Tennessee and Ohio railraod to run tracks through the center of town. WIth the tracks came the mill industry, and Mooresville was home to many large businesses, such as Burlington Industries. The buildings of downtown have been carefully preserved to showcase the history of the town, and are still home to businesses such as D.E. Turner Hardware store, which is more than 100 years old. Mooresville’s annual Christmas Parade is one of the region’s most popular events.
